Research Team

Jennifer Grau Sánchez, PhD
Occupational therapist and Neuroscientist. Professor and research group coordinator at EUIT University Center, Autonomous University of Barcelona
As the principal investigator of the RehArt project, her research focuses on developing innovative, occupation-based interventions to support recovery and participation in people with neurological conditions. She is particularly interested in how enriched environments and meaningful activities can promote brain plasticity, well-being, and quality of life.

Cindry Ramírez Fuentes, PhD
Doctor of Medicine and Attending Physician in the Rehabilitation Department at Hospital del Mar
With over ten years of experience in neurorehabilitation, she specializes in the treatment and research of brain injury. She is a researcher in the Rehabilitation Research Group at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, where her work focuses on functional recovery and comprehensive patient care.

Núria Codern Bové, PhD
Nurse and Sociologist. Research professor at EUIT University Center, Autonomous University of Barcelona
Her academic work brings together perspectives from sociology, nursing, and health research to better understand complex health challenges. She focuses on qualitative methods to explore people’s experiences and to inform more equitable and responsive health services and policies.

Misericòrdia Carles Lavila, PhD
Professor in Economics
She is a health economist with extensive experience in the economic evaluation of healthcare interventions and research projects developed in collaboration with healthcare institutions. Her work contributes to understanding the cost-effectiveness and sustainability of rehabilitation programs to support evidence-based healthcare decision-making.
WORKING TEAM

Eirini Kolliopoulou
Occupational therapist, MSc in Neurological Stimulation and Neurorehabilitation, and MSc in Dance Movement Therapy.
With extensive experience in neurorehabilitation, she integrates creative and movement-based approaches into therapeutic practice to support recovery after neurological injury. Her work contributes to promoting engagement, emotional well-being, and participation through meaningful, body-centered activities.

Jessica Tamiazzo
MSc in Clinical Neuropscyhology and Cognitive Neuroscience, PhD Candidate in Health Psychology at Autonomous University of Barcelona
Her research examines cognitive functioning and recovery processes in people after stroke. Through neuropsychological assessment and data analysis, she contributes to identifying markers that can guide rehabilitation and improve clinical outcomes.

Andrea Martínez Monteiro
Occupational Therapist in the Rehabilitation Department at Hospital del Mar and General Health Psychologist.
She has extensive clinical experience in neurological and functional rehabilitation. Her work is rooted in a person-centred approach aimed at promoting autonomy, participation in daily activities, and quality of life in individuals with neurological damage and other health conditions. Within the project, she contributes to advancing the understanding of stroke survivors’ experiences with rehabilitation services.

Cristina de Diego Alonso, PhD
Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist. Professor in the Physiotherapy Department at Universidad San Jorge
With more than fifteen years of clinical and academic experience in neurorehabilitation, she works to promote participation and healthy lifestyles after stroke. Her research and teaching focus on interventions that support long-term recovery and community engagement.

Maria José Pérez Lacasta, PhD
PhD in Economics. Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili
Her expertise lies in health economics and the evaluation of healthcare systems and services. She contributes to understanding the economic impact of health interventions and to strengthening evidence-based planning in healthcare.

Davide Dall’Ara
Biotechnologist and MSc Neuroscience Candidate
Currently enrolled in the International Master’s Degree in Neuroscience at University of Trieste, he has a strong background spanning cellular, molecular, and clinical neuroscience. Within the project, he contributes to data analysis and research activities, supporting the generation of evidence to advance stroke rehabilitation research.

Andreu Oliver Moreno, PhD
Doctor in Psychology and data analyst
He contributes to the project through the monitoring and analysis of participants’ activity and behavioral data during rehabilitation. His work supports the understanding of activity patterns and engagement, helping the team evaluate how daily participation relates to recovery processes.

This page presents the RehArt research line, which focuses on the study of enriched rehabilitation environments in inpatient stroke rehabilitation. The aim is to provide evidence-based information for the general public, stroke survivors and families, clinicians, and decision-makers.
